Abstract

Aspiration biopsy and aspiration cytology have been practiced for several decades. What is the reason for the increased use of needle biopsy and needle aspiration techniques throughout the world during the last ten years? Who should be the aspirator? What is the advantage or disadvantage of having the same person aspirate the lesion and interpret the smears?
