Abstract
Subtotal gastrectomy is removal of 70% to 80% of the distal stomach, including the pylorus. This is only performed for distal tumors, whereby a 5-cm proximal margin can be obtained, with the advantage of achieving a gastric remnant of reasonable size and thus reservoir function.
