The award is given periodically to a scientist or humanist whose studies and achievements have contributed to the protection of workers’ health and the environment. Dr. Testa was honored for his "outstanding contributions to understanding the origins of mesothelioma," a cancer of the lining of the body usually associated with exposure to asbestos.
