Eric A. Ross, PhD, ScM

Dr. Eric Ross is a Research Professor and Assistant Vice President for Biometrics and Information Science who directs both the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Facility and the Population Science Facility at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

As Director of Fox Chase’s Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Facility, Dr. Ross coordinates and supervises statistical and bioinformatics activities to ensure that all investigators receive high quality support. Dr. Ross provides quantitative expertise for clinical trials, non-therapeutic interventional studies, biomarker studies, animal model experiments and pre-clinical investigations. His collaborations with numerous investigators conducting clinical, translational, cancer control, epidemiology, and basic science research rigorously extend the quantitative interpretation of results from these disciplines. Many of these investigations extended across multiple studies, involved the analysis of diverse data types, and resulted in new insights into cancer treatment, prevention, or development.

In his role as Director of Fox Chase’s Population Studies Facility (PSF), Dr. Ross oversees the Cancer Center’s research informatics activities.  The PSF provides access to a team of information systems professionals with experience in using state-of-the-art software engineering applied to cancer research.  The Ross team’s informatics research facilitates cancer investigations by promoting the use of computer-based methods that improve research efficiency and data quality.

Dr. Ross and his team’s research focuses on the development and innovative use of quantitative methods and information technology in cancer research including the development and application of new clinical trial designs, and using large-scale data integration and web-based technologies to facilitate cancer research and health education.

Dr. Ross has co-authored over one hundred and ninety professional peer-reviewed publications.
