Treatment Philosophy

As a surgical pathologist, I am responsible for diagnosing diseases and staging the extent of malignancies on varying sized tissue samples procured from patients by clinicians and radiologists.  For example, microscopic examination of a breast core biopsy uncovers the cause of mammographic calcifications, and diagnosing a particular subtype of lung cancer from a surgical specimen ensures that the patient receives appropriate treatment.

With particular interest in lung diseases, I collaborate with pathologists, clinicians, and researchers at the Center, and participate in national and international studies related to tumors, mostly lung, and pulmonary non-neoplastic diseases.  In addition, I participate in national and international lung pathology societies and educate peers and physicians-in-training.
